God showed us what Love is. He taught us how to love at the same time. It is a gift from God which everyone should be thankful for.

Here are some of the most significant verses in the Bible about love.

1.       John 3:16 "God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

  • Love is the greatest thing of all; it has saved us from our sins.

2.       John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this that someone lay down his life for his friends."

  • God's love for us is incomparable. His sacrifice is exceptional.

3.       Matthew 5:43-45 "You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."

  • Even if a person is lovable or not, you must show him or her genuine love. A selfless love thinks for others before it thinks for itself.

4.       1 Corinthians 12:4-8 "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

  • Love and lust are two different things. Love never fails and it conquers all. Love has no expectations of a certain result or reward.

5.       Mark 12:30-31 "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

  • Love the Lord our God with everything that you have. Give Him all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength; have nothing left for yourself. Let there be no room for boast. Be a means without ends.

6.       John 13:34-35  "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."

  • Reflect the love God has given you to others.

7.       John 14:15 "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."

  • Loving is obeying God's instructions. If you truly love him then you will follow.

8.       1 Peter 4:8  "Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins."

  • We have to be willing to do for one another what God, in Christ has done for us.What does God's love do for those who believe in Jesus? It covers their sins.
