The most detested habit of sinners is complaining about their circumstances. Complaints always separate us from grace on the road to faith.
Paul talked about the biggest problem during the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt -- they were grumbling. We can see that the God's people grumbled against Moses and complained against God which prevented them out from the wilderness.
As the people in the New Testament, we should be alert to hold back complaints from destroying our beautiful life.
Below are ten Bible verses about complaints we should learn from:
1. Numbers 14:26-30 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron: "How long will this wicked community grumble against me? I have heard the complaints of these grumbling Israelites. So tell them, 'As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you the very things I heard you say: In this wilderness your bodies will fall--every one of you twenty years old or more who was counted in the census and who has grumbled against me. Not one of you will enter the land I swore with uplifted hand to make your home, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.
2. Exodus 16:7-8 "...in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we, that you should grumble against us?" Moses also said,"You will know that it was the LORD when he gives you meat to eat in the evening and all the bread you want in the morning, because he has heard your grumbling against him. Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the LORD."
3.Numbers 14:27 "How long will this wicked community grumble against me? I have heard the complaints of these grumbling Israelites.
4.Leviticus 19:17-18 "Do not hate a fellow Israelite in your heart. Rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in their guilt. Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD."
5.Proverbs 19:3 A person's own folly leads to their ruin, yet his heart rages against the LORD.
6.1 Corinthians 10:9-11 We should not test Christ, as some of them did--and were killed by snakes. And do not grumble, as some of them did--and were killed by the destroying angel. These things happen to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.
7. Philippians 2:13-16 For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, "children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation". The you will shine like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. An then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.
8. 1 Peter 4:7-10 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.
9.Jude 1:16-21 These men are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage. But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. They said to you, "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in God's love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
10.James 5:7-9 Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near. Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
