Charlie Wilson - also known as Uncle Charlie - is an American R&B singer, songwriter, producer and the former lead vocalist of The Gap Band. He has been very committed to the music industry and has been active for the past four decades now. He has also been praying that after over 40 years in the industry, he'll continue to use his voice to inspire people, and never failed to do so up to now that he's 64.

This Grammy Award-winning R&B star started in the '70s with the funk group, The Gap Band. Up to this generation, Wilson still has lots of star power in the music industry.

"I'm Blessed" is Wilson's No.1 song on the Hot Gospel Songs and Gospel Digital Song Sales Billboard charts. Based on his interview with Atlanta Business Chronicle, he said that even if he is getting older, he won't give up on inspiring people through music.

"I want people to know that I'm serious about what I'm doing. I'm probably the oldest one out here doing it like this," Wilson said. "I'm in it to win it, I won't ever stop, I won't give up, and I'm a true testament to what this is all about. I'm still inspiring a lot of people, and that's what I ask for when I talk to God."

For several years now, Wilson's foundation is his faith. It has helped him overcome the trials he had from his drug addiction in the early '90s to being homeless as he slept on the streets of Los Angeles, California. It was leaning on prayer that made him fight his situation and become the person that he is now.

Back in his interview with Gospel Herald in 2014, he said, "I was powerless over the drugs, and I just prayed to God," He also added, "When you surrender that's when things start happening for you and God start working miracles in your life. As soon as I did that my life changed."

Wilson's home is the streets for two years before going to a rehab in 1995 where he met a drug counselor, Mahin, who became his wife which he believes God placed in his life.

"Marrying Mahin is one of my greatest achievements," he said. "God speaks to this woman all the time, and he placed her in my life so I could live a healthy and happy life because everything that I had done on my own just didn't work."

The veteran singer has become stronger than ever after enduring all of his hardships and insisted his faith in God.

"My faith in God is tremendous," Wilson said. "Everything that I have now and everything that is working in my life, God arranged it." He added.
