The World Council of Churches (WCC) welcomed visitors from all over the world in mid-March.

Leaders from the Amity Foundation, led by Ling Chunxiang, general secretary, visited on March 13 and 14. They received a guided tour of the Ecumenical Centre, then met with WCC general secretary Rev. Prof. Dr. Jerry Pillay. They also discussed income monitoring and development, as well as public witness and ecumenical diakonia.

In addition, the Amity Foundation delegation visited the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey.

On March 13, a delegation from the United Evangelical Mission visited the WCC. After receiving a guided tour, they discussed cooperation with the Ecumenical Institute at Bossey. The delegation also met with the WCC general secretary, and met with other staff as well to discuss public witness, international and ecumenical diakonia, international migration, racism, and refugees.

A group of German and Swiss Catholic journalists visited on March 17 and met with WCC moderator Bishop Dr. Heinrich Bedford-Strohm as well as WCC general secretary Rev. Prof.  Dr. Jerry Pillay.

The visit to Geneva was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, to study the work in international Geneva and the UN-system.

Naurath Hilde, from Herder Korrespondenz Media in Germany, said she wanted to get to know the WCC a bit better. “This is my very first time visiting the World Council of Churches,” she said. “I am very excited to get to know the place and see the place where all our churches meet, as well as to be in contact with the World Council of Churches general secretary and the WCC moderator.”

She added that she was taking with her many impressions. “There is so much going on in the background that is not public, and there are so many good things that can be done by the WCC,” she said.
