The annual Pfrang Gala will be held at the Nanjing International School on May 27, 2017. All the ticket sales and other earnings will be used to support a project that will financially assist poor middle school students living in northern Jiangsu and Anhui. Both Chinese and foreigner supporters will be invited to the gala, according to the Amity Foundation.

It is said that the Pfrang Association was founded in memory of the deaths of the Pfrangs, who lived in Germany in April 2000. The family of four was murdered in their Nanjing house by four unemployed young men from the northern Jiangsu region. Their friends in Nanjing established the association to help poor students in the province get an education.

The association is known as a non-profit charity organization with the intention of providing funds aimed at helping underprivileged children in Jiangsu Province to attain an education. In setting up the Association, Pfrang has developed a partnership with the Amity Foundation for its program.

Since 2001, the association and the Amity Foundation, together with Jiangsu Committees of the National Democratic Construction Association, have engaged in the effort to sponsor the education of underprivileged children. Having aided around 3000 students in the past 17 years,  the project will give a financial hand to the Jinzhai County in Anhui this year.

During the academic year 2016-2017, the project funded 308 students studying in 17 schools across five counties in Jiangsu and Anhui. Among them, 169 students will finish middle or high school this June.
