Recently Christian celebrity Blackie Chen Chien-chou was invited to attend a special wedding.
Showing a letter Chen wrote 13 years ago, Li Jiajun, the bridegroom said, "I keep it with myself all the time and I often read the letter at some stages of my life...", according to the WeChat account named "The Window of Christ's Grace". His word touched the guests.
Li's father was a detective lieutenant who died in a shootout in 2004, leaving behind the wife and two young children. At that time Chen was 17 years old and his father was killed in the China Airlines Flight 140 crash, who was the cabin chief at that time. Seeing the relatives of the deceased passengers bursting into tears on TV, Chen empathized with them. He wrote a letter describing his experience of losing his father to encourage Li Jiajun who was a second-year junior student at that time.
The letter read, "Your father in the heaven is looking at you. You must dry your tears and discard all your wrath and complaints... so that your father can leave the world at ease. If you have a dream, achieve it. I will always back you to help you..."
It added, "A teacher always assigns the most 'difficult' homework to the smartest student in a class. God gives the 'hardest' test to the 'greatest' people in his eyes!"
A week after the death of Li's father, Chen happened to work in a place near the funeral home. Chen went there to mourn Li's father and donated the earnings of a performance to Li's family.
The letter has been with Li for the past 13 years as the motivation in his life.
After the wedding, Chen shared on Facebook, "I was so moved that I almost cried in the wedding...this is also very encouraging to me." He said that he was touched, seeing a teenage boy who has grown up into a firefighter who saves people, following his father's steps. Chen encouraged the bridegroom, "Your father in the heaven must be proud of you!"
