On September 16, 2018, Ling Xiangchun, who joined the Amity Foundation in 1999, was elected as its general-secretary in the board meeting held in Nanjing.
According to Amity, Ling took up the post of Amity's general-secretary assistant in September 2009. She assumed the office of the deputy general-secretary from Dec 2016 and was responsible for the operation and administration of institutions, Internet propaganda and fundraising, as well as sector and international development, etc. She also worked as the board director of Shanghai Rende Foundation and the vice board director of Guangzhou Amity Philanthropy Development Center.
As of Sept 14, 2018, the non-profit organization collected 168 million yuan this year, including estimated funds of over 60 million yuan raised in online charity events.
Since 2018, the Christian-based institution has reinforced institutional construction, internal operation and management within its agency. It also expanded the work of the agency for rural vitalization and poverty alleviation, strengthened relationships with overseas partners, and developed cooperation with churches in social service.
The independent Chinese social development organization was founded in 1985 on the initiative of Chinese Christians to promote education, social service, health, community development and civil society building to people from China's coastal provinces in the east to the minority areas of the west.
