Since the beginning of June, heavy rains have triggered floods in many parts of the south of China, affecting nearly 30 provinces and tens of millions of people.
From June 2 to early July, the national meteorological center issued a rainstorm warning for 30 consecutive days, the duration which has been rare in recent years. Residents in many parts of the country said these rains brought unprecedented flooding.
According to the People's Daily, as of 2 in the afternoon on July 10, floods and rising water caused 33.85 million disasters in Zhejiang, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, etc. According to the flood situation in the Yangtze River Basin, the National Defense General Administration initiated a Flood-Level I emergency response and made every effort to do rescue and relief work. More than 500,000 troops and civilians were invested in flood control in the southern provinces and regions. 127,800 were on the front line in Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui and other provinces.
The floods cannot prevent us from working and going through hardship together. At this moment when all places are working hard to fight against the floods, we hope that Christians will raise their hands together to pray for the floods:
Dear Lord Jesus Christ, we praise you! You have created all things in the world, and you have created people in your image, and you have given all these things to people to rule over. Your purpose is good and provides hope for people. But because of our sins, we rebelled against you and are far away from you. We have not ruled over these things well, making everything groan and making you sigh.
Lord, you have made a rainbow covenant with Noah and promised that floods would never again cover the earth. This was because you have compassion for the weeping people on this earth and the injured souls. Yes Lord, forgive us all our sins and transgressions, and give peace to us. In this age of natural disasters, our hearts are comforted and we rejoice because we believe in you.
Lord, have grace and mercy. When the floodwaters are rising, you are still sitting as the king. If you are willing to deliver salvation, is there any difficulty that we can't overcome? May the Lord let the floods and all disasters on this earth go away, heal the wounded souls, and comfort the suffering people, for you are the Lord who has mercy and love.
Lord, please help us. May you add strength to those who are tired and weak in the fight against flooding, and comfort those who are sad and suffering. May you give everyone the wisdom to fight against the floods, and the people of this earth will know you through all kinds of circumstances and look up to you even more.
