Xiamen Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) donated sports wheelchairs to people with spinal cord injuries.
On December 8, ten sports wheelchairs donated by Xiamen YMCA were transported to the service center for people with spinal cord injuries in Xiamen Halfway House.
Recently, the rehabilitation training camp for people with spinal cord injuries organized by Xiamen Disabled Persons' Federation and Xiamen Disabled Persons’ Rehabilitation Center has opened here as scheduled.
After learning that the founder of the Halfway House, Mr. Xie Qiming, and the other three coaches not only could take care of their own lives and work normally but also look after their families and other partners, let alone travelling regularly and signing up for the Xiamen International Marathon Race, the volunteers expressed their admiration.
The ten trainees of the training camp had walked out of their houses one after another to learn the knowledge of various self-care abilities, including the prevention of various diseases, the management of defecation, life skills, independent travel and so on. At the same time, the trainees also used the coaches as examples to learn how to communicate with others.
During the donation ceremony, in order to express gratitude to the donation of Xiamen YMCA and the assistance of volunteers, the coaches and trainees of the training camp also performed a wheelchair dance of "The Song of Life for You".
