Many places in south China’s Guangdong Province have recently suffered from natural disasters such as heavy rain, floods, and landslides.

Christian Times, a Chinese Christian newspaper, called on Christians to pray for the heavy rainfall.

As of 11:00 am on June 20, the flood had affected a total of 479,600 people and  27.13 hectares of crops in Shaoguan, Heyuan, Meizhou, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, and other places, with 1,729 houses collapsed. Firefighters from many places rushed to evacuate the affected people.

At 10:00 p.m. on the 21st, the Pearl River Defense Headquarters upgraded the flood control level II emergency response to the first level.

Yingde section of the Beijiang River exceeded the warning level by 10.10 meters at around 17:00 on Wednesday, reaching a peak water level of 36.10 meters, the highest level in recorded history.

No deaths had yet been reported and the injuries were still unclear, said Director Huang of the Propaganda Department of Yingde, Qingyuan City, at 7:00 pm on June 22.

The water level of Yingde section was 33.71 meters at 10:00 am on Thursday, which was slowly falling, and the flood peak of Beijiang River had crossed Yingde City, according to China News.

"May God keep the land safe and help the firefighters rescue all the trapped people. Let's pray that the disaster will recede as soon as possible and the people's lives can return to normal," the newspaper urged.
