Shi Taifeng, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the CPC Central Committee's United Front Work Department, emphasized the importance of strengthening the rule of law in the governance of religious affairs.
According to Beijing CC&TSPM, from February 23 to 25, Shi Taifeng conducted an on-site survey in Hunan Province, visiting the cities of Changsha and Hengyang. He visited religious venues, religious schools, and grassroots communities to assess the progress of promoting the sinicization of religion in China and integrating the governance of religious affairs into the grassroots social governance system.
During the survey, Shi chaired a symposium on religious work, where he heard opinions and suggestions on systematically advancing the sinicization of religion in China and strengthening the rule of law for the governance of religious affairs. Shi emphasized the need to address key challenges in the religious sector, continue combating illegal religious activities, and support the religious community in ensuring comprehensive and strict governance of religion.
He extended his visit to local private enterprises, universities, cultural and creative industry parks, as well as historical and cultural sites.
