On April 25 to 27, 2016, James Fraser, the great grandson of James O. Fraser (1886-1938), a pioneer missionary who preached to the Lisu people, visited the churches of Lisa people and his forefather's cemetery.
James Fraser was accompanied by A Xin, who completed the Chinese translation of the book Mountain Rain: A Biography of James O. Fraser.
Being named after his great-grandfather, James Fraser prayed together with his fellows in front of the missionary's cemetery. Beside, he received the the ethnic costume as a gift from the Lisu Christians.
The story of James O. Fraser is more known by Chinese Christians since the Chinese version of James O. Fraser's biography - "Mountain Rain", written by his daughter Eileen Crossman. The book records how the British missionary walked into the neglected rural area in southwestern China, based on his diaries and letters during his thirty-year mission with the China Inland Mission.
Known as the "apostle to the Lisu People", James O. Fraser created the Fraser alphabet for the Lisu language plus preached the gospel, served and lived with the Lisu people. Even he gave his life to the minority, as a kernel of wheat dying in silence like Jesus.
