On May 17 to 18, the eight-man team of the Church of Pakistan (United) has made a first in China as it has visited CCC&TSPM and the East China Theological Seminary for its first official visit to the Chinese ministry.
According to CCC&TSPM, the two ministries shared their accounts on how Christianity has grown in their respective countries. Rev. Gao Feng - Chairman of the CCC&TSPM - sahred that there is a similarity between the churches of both countries and he hopes to establish a mutual cooperation between the churches and create a symposium for discussion.It is also the hope of the CCC&TSPM that they can create further communication for the development of theology, improvement of the women's ministry and tackle child-related issues.
According to Pakistani Archbishop Samuel Robert Azariah, he also looks forward into building stronger communication between their ministries and create a series of ministries in Pakistan similar to those in China for the benefit of the Pakistani Church.
Besides these topics and sentiments, both parties also held discussions regarding the improvement of social service such as how the youth ministry can be improved and the evangelization of churches.
The Church of Pakistan was established in 1970, comprising Anglicans, Scottish Presbyterians, United Methodists and Lutherans with the Anglicans forming the majority population of over 800,000 members. The Church also has two theological seminaries: the Gujranwala Theological Seminary and the St Thomas' Theological College located in Karachi.
