God's word is the most powerful word in the world; however, how can people discern if what they hear is still God's word? Here are some of the points that you must be aware of which is not written in the Bible.
1. God only wants me happy.
This specific statement cannot be seen in the Bible because what God actually first said to the people is: "God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground (Genesis 1:28)."" "And the Lord God commanded the man, "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden (Genesis 2:16)."
It is most often that people believe that "God wants me happy" and use it as a reason to fulfill one's selfish desires and make excuses in order to disobey God's word.
The very simple reason why we do not want to do things regardless of who asked us to do an act is because we are not happy.
God is not our tool, toy or idol that we must take for granted. On the contrary, He is our governor and the ruler of the universe. Does God only wants us to be happy or obey His word more? You must consider this question yourself.
2. Find the cause of hurt in your family
When "inner healing" became popular in churches, this point of view became popular as it is often connected to enlightenment. One would say "Yes, I became like this today because I have experienced this or that in my childhood."
However, does this statement appear in the Bible or is it supported by the Bible?
"As he (Jesus) went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" "Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him (John 9:1-3)."
The possible reason why we become what we are today has something to do with one's family origin. However, can we be healed after we find the cause of what is wrong with us? We can't. Only Jesus Christ can truly heal us.
3. God won't deliver you things beyond your ability.
I was once convinced of this specific belief until I messed up my life and work. This view could be illuminated in this specific verse: "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13)."
However, this verse does not mean that God won't hand over things beyond our ability.
Enduring temptation differs totally from doing the work of God. We always need to face things beyond our abilities throughout our lives.
It is the process where we deal with issues far more than our capacities, allowing us to learn how we can depend on God, expand our abilities and practice how we work with God.
4. God hopes we sacrifice individuals to benefit a group.
In my younger years, I was taught that one must sacrifice their interests for the betterment of the group and seek to benefit others rather than yourself. One must change one's self to become a screw that would fit in anywhere it is needed.
However, this is not the sacrifice the Bible stresses or the cross Jesus is talking about.
The Bible pertains to the event happening between God and us while the event conveys the information of self-denial or sacrifice. If my thoughts are not conformed with God's, we must deny one's thoughts and choose to follow God's will. This is the sacrifice in the Bible and the cross Jesus tells his followers. It is supported by this verse which talks about Jesus' prayer in the Gethsemane, "Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if its is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will (Matthew 26:39)."
God won't sacrifice anyone, including his personality. All types of men can find his suitable position in God. God never abandons a man to help another. There is no need for Him to do this because there are numerous ways in Him which would solve our problems which we see to be hopeless in our eyes.
God hopes that we choose to obey His will with absolute freedom.
5. God won't give whatever I like.
You're not the only one who thinks like this. Many saints had the same feeling too.
Sometimes, we would want something and God would not give it to us, giving it to a person close to us by intention. It would seem like God is against us on purpose, not wanting us to acquire happiness.
This thought would gradually grow in our minds after we experience this trend several times: 'God won't give me whatever I like and He will even take away what I already have.'
Of course, this is not the reality God wants us to see.
The growing process of faith is similar to the growing process of life. If a kernel of wheat wants to bear fruits, it needs to undergo the dark course beneath the earth.
We need to to experience both highs and lows so we can at least experience the sufferings Jesus once had. Never forget that Jesus had experienced the same challenges and sufferings with you even if one cannot feel his presence.
Use your senses to defeat the emotions causing you to doubt yourself and tell yourself which is reality and which is fake.
6. Awaken the giant within you.
"Each one of us has a talent, a gift, our own bit of genius just waiting to be tapped."
Have you ever heard similar words and used it to encourage yourselves in front of the mirror after getting up every morning? Did you say to yourself that "I'm the best" to awaken that giant within?
This has been one of the most popular concepts in the past century. However, it accounts to nothing in the life road of Christians.
