The first church in Xi'an --- Dongxinxiang Church, is located in the middle of a lane and can easily be neglected.

The original church was founded in 1890 by a missionary from the Baptist Church of Britain, named as "Salvation Church". It had nine houses.

With the increasing believers, it was reconstructed in 1909 and renamed as "Jesus Church". The new seven-room church building was spacious and full of light. It had the plainest agricultural style that may relate to the followers and the church had invested many funds into education and medical charity among the old churches existing in Xi'an. At that time, it had many affiliated houses covering over 16 mu and stood as the Western mission center of the British Baptist Church. There were also a school and a hospital in the compound.

Later, the church property was occupied by a factory during the "Cultural Revolution" and returned to the church afterwards. It went through a renovation in 1984 and the new church can now hold 500 people.

It holds three services on Sundays, a weekly course for catechumens, a prayer meeting, two meetings for the young and middle-aged, and the choir.
