Beijing Chongwenmen Christian Church carried out various Bible-related activities in 2016, including the yearly journey of Bible reading, "the Light of Life, 80-hour Bible-Reading," and Bible verse quizzes.
Theme of Chongwenmen Church for 2016 is "Rooting in the Word of God and bearing fruits of service." The Senior pastor of the church, Liu Cuimin, wrote in a New Year's wish that the church would "start the wave of Bible reading, and bring brothers and sisters back to the Bible by hosting different activities in order to seek the guidance in society and life by the Word of God."
According to the WeChat of Chongwenmen Church, the daily Bible reading journey of 2016 is drawing to a close. In December, the reading of the whole Bible finished on the 24th. From the 25th through 28th, selected readings from Proverbs are being read, on the 29th and 30th, the Bible readings will be reviewed, and on the 31st there will be a year-end prayer. The daily Bible reading journey of the church not only listed the passage of the day, but also consisted of brief sharing, meditation, and verses.
On Oct 10, Chongwenmen Church hosted "the Light of Life, 80-hour Bible-Reading." With an 80-hour's nonstop reading, believers read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. About 180 participated in leading the reading, and 300 followed. Since the Bible reading was on workdays, many young believers requested to participate at night. Even at the reading just before dawn, there were around 20 people to read or listen.
On Nov 26, Chongwenmen Church also hosted the finals for the Bible verse quiz. This activity was prepared to start in April, and had the semi-final on Nov 19. Eventually, ten believers stood out from 367 participants and entered the finals.
