A church in Jinsha New District, Qitaihe, Heilongjiang started a special campaign to collect used bricks for the church's new construction. The congregation has picked up more than 200,000 bricks as of March 28, 2017.

A video made by the church shows that the believers carried the bricks with tricycles, four-wheelers or with their own cars.

Rev. Qin Shuping, the senior pastor, tells China Christian Daily that there are many abandoned bricks after residential houses near the church have been demolished. She adds,"The collected bricks will be used for the construction of a church annex with an area of around 700 m2. It will hold gatherings during the church construction and serve as a kitchen after the completion of the new church. It costs the church 0.25 yuan a piece to buy a new brick, so these used bricks have saved more than 50,000 yuan for the church."

It is said that the new church will cover an area of 6588 m2 or 1.628 acres, consisting of a chapel, an annex and a square. The total expenditure is estimated to reach 7 million yuan.
