In early autumn, the Lengshuitan Church's volunteer team in Yongzhou, Hunan, gave financial aid to students and visited the elderly.
Two students in a local village have been admitted to their first choice universities, but their families failed to collect enough money to pay their tuition and living expenses.
Their parents became poor due to diseases, but the children worked in the summer to earn their tuition. The church's volunteer team gave about ten thousand yuan to the students as timely help.
In addition, the team continued a regular visit to some lonely elderly people and empty nesters in Chujiangwei Village, bringing daily necessities including mosquito coils, towels, and toothpaste to them. The project is supported by Tencent Charity, the donation site of the world's largest Internet company. The seniors were happy to see the familiar volunteers.
The volunteer team has been focusing on underprivileged groups like those who are old, weak, ill, or disabled since its establishment last March. "Uphold truth, kindness, and beauty, and spread faith, hope, and love" is their motto. During the summer, it gave 11,000 yuan to three poor students. Moreover, it applied several education assistance projects to the local authority.
