On March 29, 2019, a reading party was held on schedule in Beijing Chongwenmen Church. According to the church, the staff discussed Carol S. Dweck's Mindset: The New Psychology of Success, of which the Chinese version was literally entitled, "Lifelong Growth".
Mindset proposes that a person has two kinds of mindsets: the growth mindset and the fixed mindset. One's social relationship, character and life are shaped by his or her mindset.
The staff talked about what they thought of this theory. Some connected it with religious work, saying that a growth mindset could bring out greater potential in a team leader, thus helping them serve better.
Rev. Liu Cuimin felt that one's mindset determines one's whole life, and everyone's mindset is actually a combination of growth and fixed. In her view, one's tendency towards growth mindset or fixed mindset affected one's course of life. The growth mindset could help one's lifelong growth, as well as improve social relationships, marriage, family education and leadership. She said that we could deliberately practice it in our daily life. With the practice guide, The book offers to shift our minds to the growth mindset, and thus will play a role in our service and leading volunteers.
