A house church in Wuhan, the city at the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic, said on August 12 that its blood drive that was to be held last Saturday was canceled.
Founded in 2002, the Wuhan Root & Fruit Church planned to hold a blood drive to support the coronavirus fight, but the plan was scuttled for "undisclosed reasons“ according to an official message on WeChat.
John 3:19 was attached at the end of the message, ”This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.”
The original post of the activity announcement released on Aug 4 was also deleted.
On Feb 2, the church launched online Chinese and English posts on WeChat to appeal to Chinese Christians for fasting and prayer. The local pastors urged Christians to pray and be watchmen for Wuhan, China, and the rest of the world affected by the virus.
Renting a floor of an office building, the medium-size church can hold 280 people. Its vision is to bring one million professional families to Christ.
