A church in China’s southeastern coastal Fujian Province held a service and ceremony to celebrate the installation of a new female pastor.
At Shangtang Church in Putian City on March 25, Rev. Lin Yaru, who was newly ordained, was installed with nearly 300 participants from Fuzhou City, Putian City, Xiuyu District, and even Jiangle County, which is 200 kilometers away.
After hymns presented by the choir composed of members from Shangtangtang and the training class, Rev. Zheng Junjie read Luke 16: 1–13.
Then, Rev. Yue Qinghua, president of Fujian Theological Seminary, shared a sermon with the title "A Shrewd and Good Master," saying a smart master was good at planning for the future, seizing opportunities, and utilizing resources.
At the inauguration ceremony, Rev. Lin Yaru was awarded an installation certificate.
In her speech, Pastor Lin stated she was admitted to the seminary for further study in 2006 and that she benefited from the patronage of pastors and staff members present during her 17 years of study and ministry. She served in Daitou Church, Dongwan Church, and Qihu Church and carried out pastoral care in Xiafang Church, Houtang Church, and Shangtang Church. She was especially grateful to Shangtang Church, which encouraged her to apply to be a pastor, and now she had been installed as a pastor.
