A volunteer training class was conducted in Shandong with the objective of enhancing the standardized management of county churches and improving preaching skills.
Boxing County Christian Three-Self Patriotic Movement Committee in Binzhou, Shandong, held the first volunteer training class attended by 48 participants this year at Bo'xing Christian Training Center from April 27 to 29.
Rev. Wu Jianyin, consultant for Shandong CC&TSPM, and Rev. Wang Xicheng, deputy secretary-general and deputy director-general, were invited as instructors.
Drawing upon biblical teachings and his extensive pastoral experience, Rev. Wu guided the students to work well in pastoral care in a proper and all-round way by sharing the topic “Work Well in Pastoral Care While Insisting on the Sinicization of Christianity."
Rev. Wang Xicheng discussed Paul Scott Wilson's "The Four Pages of the Sermon" in a session titled "Dialogue Between Sermon and Tradition." The students were encouraged not only to enhance their preaching techniques but also to deepen the substance of their sermons. The aim was to foster an interaction between biblical tradition and Chinese cultural tradition through preaching. During the class, the students experimented with "The Four Pages of the Sermon."
