Churches in Jiangsu and Zhejiang marked the 2023 Christian Charity Day with themed Sunday services and free clinics, which took place on October 14 and 15 this year (the third Saturday and Sunday in October).
On October 15, Hushuguan Church in Suzhou, Jiangsu, hosted a themed Christian charity Sunday worship and collected offerings during the service for special charitable activities, Suzhou Municipal CC&TSPM reported. Rev. Lu Fang presided over the service, and Elder Liu Xingsheng preached on the theme of "Spur One Another on Toward Love and Good Deeds," citing Hebrews 10:24. Elder Liu exhorted believers to engage in acts of kindness and contribute to building a harmonious society in collaboration with diverse sectors of society.
Meanwhile, the same day, a themed Sunday service was held at the Apostle Church in Suzhou. Based on the theme of this year's charity day, “Consider One Another and Encourage Good Deeds,” Rev. Huang Fuping interpreted the central theme of doing good in the Bible, encouraging attendees to engage in social charitable work and extend care to disadvantaged groups. The church took this charity day as an opportunity to call out believers to participate in social charitable activities.
From October 14 to 15, Xiangcheng Church in Suzhou carried out a series of charity activities, including organizing the medical staff to measure blood pressure, conduct oral check-ups, and provide acupuncture for the elderly. Additionally, they offered free haircuts to believers in need. Meanwhile, the visiting team paid visits to the elderly living alone and the physically challenged in the area.
According to Sicheng Church in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, on October 15, as the Chongyang Festival (Double Ninth Festival) approached, the church organized a free clinic in collaboration with the Hangzhou Christian Family and Elderly Service Center.
