A centennial church in Shanxi Province, Northern China, held the first collective memorial service after the three-year pandemic.
Linfen Yaodu District Church hosted the memorial service at the city church on November 22. Following Pastor Guo Lingquan reciting Revelation 14:13, Pastor Wang Shuai delivered a sermon titled “Blessed Are Those Who Die in the Lord.” Wang elaborated on four points: being in Christ is a requirement for blessed death; rest from labor is the reason for blessed death; blessed death actually occurs along with fruitful work; and God highly values the glory of blessed death.
Following the sermon, the church played a short video, “A Hundred Years of Martyrdom,” featuring the last words from a representative dozen of the 241 missionaries who were martyred for the Lord in Shanxi during the Boxer Rebellion. Subsequently, the introduction of the departed faithful servant of Christ in the church was presented, reviewing the brief history of the establishment and development of churches in Linfen.
