Surrounded by special Christmas settings, a church in Guangdong Province urged believers to share the gospel with people during the Christmas season.
At the third Sunday service of Advent conducted December 17, Rev. Zhang Chengtao, senior pastor of Guangxiao Church in Guangzhou City, appealed to the believers not to neglect God's words by holding on to what is good and sanctifying wholly in a sermon based on 1 Thessalonians 5:19–26, 28.
Designed the Christmas setting placed in the church by himself, Pastor Zhang elaborated on the meanings behind the settings, encouraging the congregation to "act" on the settings instead of just taking photos with the settings. "You should be the angels who spread the good news or the wise men from the east to worship Christ," the pastor added.
He mentioned that in order to attract tourists, the church crafted an artificial snow scene on the second Sunday of Advent despite Guangzhou's temperature remaining above 20°C. Then a video showcasing people in summer or autumn outfits under the screne garnered a total view of 4.08 million on Chinese TikTok (Douyin).
Concluding the service, the church shared the good news of the completion of the Panyu Church's primary construction in the city's Panyu District, inviting the congregation to pray and donate for the next phase. In addition, the church also arranged a charity sale in its yard to sponsor the Panyu Church construction.
