Experts Discuss on Introduction to 'Beatitudes Theology' in Fuzhou

An expert group meeting was hosted for discussions on the Introduction to Beatitudes Theology (hereinafter Introduction for short), as well as the interpretation, preaching, and application of the Bible within the Chinese cultural context.

"Beatitudes Theology" is an effort of the nationwide sinicization of Christianity campaign carried out by Fujian CC&TSPM. 

The Chinese Ethnic and Religious Culture Research Center of the Central Institute of Socialism and Fujian CC&TSPM carried out the meeting on May 25, with instructions from 18 experts and scholars from the Central Institute of Socialism, the Chinese Academy of Social Science and several universities, reported CCC&TSPM.

Rev. Pastor Yue Qinghua, chairman of Fujian TSPM and president of Fujian Theological Seminary, pointed out that the compilation of the Introduction aims to combine the basic beliefs, core doctrines, and liturgical norms of Christianity with the traditional Chinese blessings culture, so as to build a theological system of Christianity with Chinese characteristics.

At the meeting, Professor You Bin, dean of the Institute of Religious Studies and PhD supervisor at the Minzu University of China, provided a systematic introduction to the writing approach, internal logic, structural framework, and objectives of the Introduction. In the keynote review, Professor Huang Yongfeng from the Institute of Religious Studies at Xiamen University and Professor Gan Mantang, assistant dean of the  School of Humanities and Social Science at Fuzhou University, remarked that the textbook integrates multiple disciplines, including religious studies, Chinese philosophy, and ethics, making it a work of academic value.

During the demonstration session of the textbook, experts present offered suggestions on the textbook's writing logic and content, providing new perspectives for its revision.
