On August 23, Huaxiang (Flower Lane) Church in Fuzhou, Fujian, hosted a youth choir worship service.
The Huaxiang Youth Choir, a key ministry team of the church, was founded in 1996 and has been engaged in music ministry for nearly three decades. Composed primarily of young members, the choir expresses worship and devotion to God through music, prayer, study, and training.
Since its inception, the choir has conducted at least one music worship event annually and frequently collaborates with Fujian Theological Seminary and local church choirs to hold sacred music praise gatherings.
The theme of the evening's service was "I Was Created to Worship Jesus." The youth choir performed pieces of hymns, including "I Am Strengthened in Him," "I Want to Go for You," and "Mission."
Rev. Chen Ming delivered a sermon titled "The Best Moments in Life," drawing on Psalm 34:8. Rev. Chen noted that the finest moments in life are encountering the Lord, knowing Him, and turning to Him. Quoting Victor Hugo, the celebrated 19th-century French writer and poet, he reminded the congregation, "Faith is necessary to men; woe to him who believes in nothing!" True faith enriches life, and in today's era of lovelessness, insecurity, and intense animosity, it is needed more than ever.
During the special musical segment "Songs of Grace Never End," many stepped forward to respond to God's call, and the youth choir concluded the service with the blessing song "Let's Walk This Road Together."
It is learned that Huaxiang (Flower Lane) Church, originally established in 1915 as "Shangyou Hall," is one of the historic Methodist churches in Fuzhou. Reopened in 1979 after the Cultural Revolution, it has since become a major center for Christian gatherings, theological education, and international exchanges. By 2014, the church had more than 10,000 believers, 11 ministry departments with nearly 1,000 co-workers, and fellowships across all age groups and professions. Each Sunday, about 4,000 people attend services, while its weekend praise gatherings draw nearly 2,000 worshippers and seekers.
