Marriages must often have values in them to ensure that their relationship remains strong. However, what are the values that should be in the marriage to make sure it does stick?

The answer for this question is seen in the Bible. Here are ten verses that would help marriage gain Christian perspectives to make it sound and strong?

1. God set up the marriages.

In Genesis 2:18, 'The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."'

2. God defines marriage as a bond between a man and a woman.

In Genesis 2:24, "That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh."

3. Marry Christians

2 Corinthians 6:14-17, Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do riteousness and wicknedness have in common? Or what fellowship can have with darkness?

3. Marry with Christians:

2 Corinthians 6:14-17 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is their between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people."

Therefore, "Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you."

4. Don't leave your partner.

1 Corinthians 7:10 said "To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband."

5.  Marriage is a sacred covenant.

According to Romans 7:1-3, "Do you not know, brothers and sisters - for I am speaking to those who know the law - that the law has authority over someone only as long as that person lives?

For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law that binds her to him.

So then, if she has sexual relations with another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress if she marries another man."

6. Couples should tolerate each other.

Ephesians 4:2-3 stated that: "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."

7. The wife should submit to her husband.

Ephesians 5:22 said "Wives, submit to your own husbands as you do to the Lord."

8. The husband should love his wife.

Ephesians 5:25 stated "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."

9. Man shall not separate what God has joined together.

Matthew 19:3-6 stated "Some Pharisees came to him (Jesus) to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"

Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female' and said 'For this reason, a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate."

10. Families are to serve God.

Joshua 24:15 stated "But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But, as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."
