Xianyang churches in Shaanxi Province called on believers to donate to the fight against the virus.

Following the COVID-19 protocols, Jingyang County CC&TSPM in Xianyang, Shaanxi, on January 7 encouraged church members to donate money and materials to battle the pandemic, as Xianyang City, 29 kilometers away from the capital lockdown city, was affected amid the strong wave of COVID-19.

Rev. Wang Qingwen, chairman of the county CC&TSPM, took the lead with a personal donation of 1,000 yuan, and the county CC&TSPM spent 7,700 yuan purchasing masks and disinfectants. In addition to that, the organization and the pastor donated 1,000 yuan respectively to the county's Red Cross Society, according to Shaanxi CC&TSPM.

The donations were used to support the work of frontline workers in 24 checkpoints and to satisfy their needs.

On Wednesday, Shaanxi reported one new case, with 73 people recovered. From December 9, 2021 to January 17, 2022, a total of 2,077 local confirmed cases were detected in the province, including 2050 in Xi’an and 13 in Xianyang.
