"To popularize classic music and spread the gospel", a gospel concert was conducted in a centennial church in China’s southern-coastal Guangdong Province.

In the concert held in Guangzhou Shamian Church with the concept of musical authenticity for the first time, Jiamu Baroque Ancient Orchestra performed all the pieces of church music with the Baroque ancient instruments on July 24, according to Guangdong CC&TSPM.

During the concert hosted by Rev. Hou Dian of the church, Liu Liansheng from the orchestra talked about the style, instrument, and composition concept of each piece, as well as the relationship between the piece and the Christian faith. The selected music pieces were mainly from J.S. Bach, Philipp Telemann, Antonio Vivaldi, Dieterich Buxtehude, and Georg Friedrich Handel, involving various genres such as sonatas, variations, and opera excerpts. Combined with solo and various ensembles, the concert presented the solemn and sacred style, flexible forms, and pleasant acoustics of church music.

In recent years, the church hosted concerts to keep believers cool in the hot summer, "improving the musical quality of believers by explaining the background of Christian music works".
