Two churches in the Guangdong Province on China's southeastern coast announced their services and events during the incoming Lenten season.

Recently, Guangzhou Guangxiao Church said on social media that it will hold Lent events with the theme of "Self-Discipline to Win and Practice of Godliness."

It said on the first day of Lent, pastors would place ashes on the foreheads of believers in Ash Wednesday service, and three Palm Sunday services would be conducted. Since palm branches are used to decorate the church, Christians will hold crosses made of palm branches and leaves when they go to church to worship. Next, it will hold a series of spiritual practices during the Holy Week.

During Lent, it will also hold a craft activity called "Welcome Palm Sunday and Weave Crosses Together" from March 19 to 31.

The Church of Our Savior in Guangzhou last Saturday released a 40-day spiritual retreat program titled "Conquer Yourself and Practice Piety."

The notice released by the church said 40 days' worth of spiritual sharing sessions on the book of Matthew will be given online from February 22 to April 2 by 17 pastors from five churches in Guangzhou, including Shifu Church, Fangcun Church, and the Church of Our Savior.
