Chinese television dramas have long been available online for foreign viewers but in Russia, Chinese TV series are attracting more Russian viewers who are starting to get interested in Chinese culture and Asia completely.

Although there are no promotional activity for these Asian series, Russians who are not studying oriental languages are slowly growing according to 'The Bears', a Russian translating group at VKontakte for foreign dramas. In the statement of one of the administrators of the translating group, 100 to 300 viewers were a standard for one Chinese TV drama back in the past. However, this number has grown to thousands in recent years.

Unfortunately, Chinese translators are finding it difficult to keep the momentum, especially as they cannot find a Chinese translator that would translate an entire Chinese TV series. Usually, Chinese TV series are very long, with 60 to 100 episodes and the manpower needed for the entire series is very difficult. Translators now start in studying the language and reach up to an intermediate level in order to translate these shows properly for Russian viewers.

Russians have also showed immense influence for Chinese films, allowing them to understand Chinese culture, lifestyle and its history. In a survey done by Xinhua, Russians stress that they like the high quality of Chinese films in comparison to Hollywood movies and they also like how the plot is presented in a way that it would match with all the elements within the movie.
