Recently, the South Korean TV soap named Descendants of the Sun is very hot around the world. At a time, Zhongji Song ’s “hit on a girl” 、Hyekyo Song’s “Frozen Age” became hot keywords. Some netizens summarized that in the past there were Triratna in South Korean Soap Opera: cancer, car accident and incurable. But now, they are long-legs, seductive and local lord.

But I think if there are only those 3 things, they are not enough for the Descendants of the Sun to became so popular. The most important factor is the world view. The value it contains is different from other Korean opera.

I watched a couple of episodes during the traditional Chinese Tomb-sweeping festival. The leading man is a special soldier and the leading woman is a doctor. They fell in love, but at the same time, they should heal the wounded and rescue the dying. The most important part is the description of mission and responsibility.

The leading man character— Yoo Shi Jin, although he deeply loved the leading lady, but love is not all his life about. He value his identity as a soldier. He is devoted to his country and the people.

Yoo Shi Jin is the special soldier stationed in Uruk. They safeguard world peace, support the work of the UN, rescue hostages and other dangerous things in this desolate and uninhabited place.

The Commander in the opera have said the following words which impressed me a lot: “Maybe in your eyes, the national security is sitting in the adytum discussing politics, dealing with foreign affairs before the hubbub of the vidicon; but for me and my subordinates, it means to devote our whole youth time to protect our motherland. ”

I was shocked when saw this. Now we can sit in the office, at home, in the street enjoying the happy times with our families and friends, neglecting what kind of cost behind all of these.

The leading lady—Kang Mo Yeon tried her best to save the wounded. At that time, she was about to leave Uruk, but when she heard there occurred earthquake, she choose to come back at once without taking off her sandal, searching and rescue people barefoot.

It is ordinary story, but it is so realistic and touching. As what Kang Mo Yeon did is just their responsibility as a doctor, but this job is not qualified for everyone. She firmly remembered her pledge when she started her career as a doctor.

The mission as soldier and doctor made them tacit, they fighting in their respective forefront. Maybe that’s the source of the name Descendants of the Sun.

In Philippians of the Bible,Verse 13-14 reads ”Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Paul the Apostle firmly remembered his mission and never forgot it, just to finish the” big mission” God gives him and tried his best to run.

Is there any mission we should shoulder in our life? What’s your attitude toward it? Have you considered it more important than anything else in the world? Or put it behind your own need? This worth everyone to examine carefully.
