Fiona Xie, who played the role of Kitty Pong, the shameless, gold-digging soap opera starlet, shared that despite her wild on-screen wardrobes, the movie still protected her modesty.

When asked about her sexy mini-dresses, she said, "It was in the book, so we definitely cannot disappoint the fans, but it was very nice of (director) Jon M. Chu and the team to protect my modesty."

She also added that the wardrobe was nice and that the team did it with class and humor.

Xie shared in one of her interviews that she initially turned down the role for controversy. Kitty Pong was portrayed as money-grubbing, social-climbing sexpot who is dating Nicholas Young's cousin Alistair but later dumps him for the richer Bernard Tai.

"Kitty is really fun and bubbly, but she's also outrageous. People in Asia are more proper, so it was a risk," she said in an interview.

"I think I'm always the life of the party but I'm definitely not her. I'm Kitty without the loose morals," Xie talking about her character.

Her character takes a more significant role and even has a major plotline in the sequel "China Rich Girlfriend."

Meanwhile, Xie thanked the movie for the chance to take the role.

"I almost gave up on believing in myself, being part of a grind that never stopped to uplift actors," she said in an emotional Instagram post."Thank you (Jon M. Chu) for watering this wilted flower, for having such faith, may I grow more and blossom under your amazing leadership and make these dreams that you stir in all of us a crazy reality."

According to reports, "Crazy Rich Asians" has been topping the North American box office for the second week running, generating US$25 million since its release.
