"Has God rejected me?"
I have asked myself this question many times during the early years of my walk with the Lord. But I was not the only one asking. Other young believers ask this question, too. And after a few years of walking with the Lord, I have found the answer.
The answer is, "No."
But sometimes, situations come up in our lives where it feels as though God has closed all his doors for us. Sometimes, it feels as if he doesn't hear us anymore, as if he doesn't care anymore. Is this really the case?
The answer is, "No."
At times like these, we hold on to the Word of God. Our feelings are tricky more often than not, so when we are unsure because of our emotions, we open our Bibles and find out what the Lord is saying.
God does not reject his people. Jesus makes it clear in John 6:37, "...the one who comes to me I will most certainly not cast out [I will never, no never, reject any one of them who comes to me]." We believers have the blessed assurance of the acceptance of God.
God does not abandon his people. He promised it to Joshua, and he promises the same to you saying, "I will not fail you or abandon you (Joshua 1:5)."
When we are tempted to give in to the feelings of loneliness and rejection, let us remember how Jesus dealt with the devil when he was tempted in the wilderness. Jesus always answered the devil with, "It is written (Matthew 4:10)."
Do you know what God says about you?
He says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3)." The love of God never fails and never ends. It never ceases to be true no matter what the circumstances are. It is the kind of truth that will protect us and keep us secure against thoughts and emotions that say otherwise. So, when the devil throws thoughts at us saying, "No one loves you." Say, "It is written, God loves me with an everlasting love." When the devil says, "No one cares for you." Say, "God cares for me (1 Peter 5:7)." When the devil starts to make you feel alone, remind yourself of the words of Jesus when he said that, "I am with you always, to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20)."
God never rejects those who come to him.
Romans 8:35-39 - Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? ... No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow - not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
