"Twilight" actor Robert Pattinson revealed that he and FKA Twigs are engaged for two years already in a recent interview. He also noted that he prefers to keep their relationship out from the public eye during his appearance on Sirius XM's "The Howard Stern Show" this week.
According to him, he proposed to the singer in early 2015. However, a source told PEOPLE that the wedding of the couple had been postponed in August 2015.
"I mean basically, for whatever reason with "Twilight"- I don't know whether it is a specific thing with the audience - there's like a crack group of crazies that think every single decision you're making is either creating some kind of conspiracy," the actor elaborated about keeping their romance since FKA Twigs was always subject to online bullying. "So you kind of think, like, to protect it, I want to create a big boundary."
The actor also shared that deciding what needs to be shared or what to keep private from his fans is the most frustrating thing for him.
Meanwhile, the actor also talked about his "Twilight" days and revealed that he went head-to-head with the producers over his character, Edward Cullen.
Pattinson said he saw Cullen as "incredibly serious all of the time," but the "Twilight" crew wanted the character to be "happy and having fun" in his romance with Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart).
"I remember the producers giving me the copy of the book, and every single instance where my character smiled and stuff they'd highlighted everything," Pattinson told the audience. "I got a different color highlighter and highlighted every time he frowned."
"I thought I was pretty safe," he further explained, adding, "And [the producers] were like you've got to do the opposite of what you're doing now or you're going to get fired today."
