Coffee May Reduce Your Risk Of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Disease

Coffee is reported to be good for you for a reason.

Recent studies, as per a report on November 8, have shown that a regular coffee drinker can reduce the risk of all kinds of diseases like stroke and heart attack. Now, a new study revealed that dark roast coffee is very good at reducing risks of brain conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

The study, which focused on compounds called phenylindanes, emphasized that there are benefits of drinking a cup of roast coffee in the morning. Dark roast is known to be packed with that compounds that are effective to inhibit production of a protein linked to Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.

"The caffeinated and de-caffeinated dark roast both had identical potencies in our initial experimental tests," Dr. Ross Mancini, lead author of the study, said in a statement. "So we observed early on that its protective effect could not be due to caffeine."

There are other benefits of drinking regular coffee but drinking the dark roast particularly decreases your chances of having these brain diseases. But, it only means, coffee is really not that bad at all.

"Drinking three to four cups of coffee a day is associated with health benefits across a range of diseases and conditions. A review published in The BMJ this week identified 201 meta-analyses of observational research and 17 meta-analyses of interventional research and found that coffee consumption was more often associated with benefit than harm over various health outcomes," an article published by Anne Gulland in The BMJ stated.
