Question:

I have recently been having trouble making a decision for a problem I have. I want to do God's will but find it very hard to hear His voice "correctly."
In Acts, some things were decided by casting lots, but that brings up a question:
Is it proper, after pious and selfless prayer where I am willing to accept and obey His will no matter what, to use that method for discerning His will?

Answer:

First of all, why do you want to hear God's voice? It's hard for us to know God's will clearly (If there is one. It isn't necessarily shown clearly every time). We can only judge in accordance with reason, the Holy Spirit, and biblical principles.

Act rather than think too much about if your decision meets the above conditions and you are moved to do that.

God will forbid what is not His will. If He doesn't hinder you in doing it, don't worry about the consequence since it is permitted by God.

However, it's important that your decision pass these tests.

Second, no! That is fortune-telling!

When was a decision made by casting lots in the Bible? Generally, casting by lots was used to choose people.

An individual casting lots for decision-making is rarely seen in the Bible. Moreover, casting lots in the Bible was performed for group affairs, not personal issues.

In fact, if you have a problem that you don't dare solve synthetically according to your reason, the Spirit and biblical principles, you are saying that God has to explain something very explicitly.

New converts can turn to spiritual seniors for help if they encounter such a situation. They can offer reminders and sometimes help. However, they should be evangelical, not Pentecostal, or you can fall into greater confusion.
