The Lantern Festival, observed on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month in the Chinese calendar and coinciding with the full moon, marks the conclusion of the Chinese New Year. This year, the festival falls on February 12. This photo collection tells how churches across China hosted Lantern Festival celebrations, blending tradition with faith through gatherings, performances, and acts of fellowship. From lighting lanterns symbolizing Christ as the light of the world to sharing Yuanxiao (also known as Tangyuan, a glutinous rice ball dessert) in communal love, believers embraced the festival’s spirit while reflecting on God’s blessings.
