The Amity Foundation decided to provide disaster relief assistance to Ecuador with ACT Alliance after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck the northwest coastal part of Ecuador, hoping more support from the society.
The strongest quake with a focal depth of 10 km since 1979 hit the country on Saturday, leaving 262 dead and more than 2500 injured until now.
And the quake monitoring department of Ecuador says 163 aftershocks followed in the quake area.
Since the country is in the circum-Pacific seismic belt with a lot of volcanoes, earthquakes and volcano disasters occur frequently.
Now Ecuador deployed 10,000 soldiers, 4600 police officers and firefighters to the hardest-hit coastal provinces. Two mobile hospitals have been set up in the quake region. It's also allocating and transporting relief supplies to the disaster area.
Amity, the only Chinese founding member and a board of ACT Alliance(coalition of 147 organizations of 147 countries), took international rescue to help Nepal last year.
