"God's kingdom cannot stand if we are not one." Rev. David Demian called on global Christians to focus on "oneness" in the second session of the three-day Canadian Family Gathering that kicked off in Montreal on June 29, 2017.
The theme was "That they may be One Un." "UN" is the abbreviation of "the United Nations", while true unity cannot be achieved by the earthly power, but is possible when Christians repent and accept each other in Christ.
Jesus prayed for his disciples in the Last Supper, "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one- I in them and you in me-so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me."(John 17:20-23)
One of the biggest wishes the Lord Jesus has for his disciples lies in that they may be one. Although the churches that are his body are scattered in different areas, cultures and among different peoples, Jesus Christ wishes that they are one in him.
"The Reformation took place five centuries ago and later the church kept reforming. We need reform today to promote oneness in us." The pastor claimed,"God's kingdom cannot stand if we are not one."
He gave an example in Acts, saying,"The Lord commands us to be one and have the same spirit so that he can be the Lord of one day and his kingdom can come. This is Chapter Two of Acts, the beginning of the church."
He exhorted the local Christians from different areas to repay attention to the will of the Lord Jesus and to have a new beginning."God prepares us to be united to form a body."
"The only hope in the world lies in the one body of Christ. When we are united, the devil trembles. Whatever we think, it is fundamental that how we who are Christ's ambassadors act ..." Rev. David Demian stated that we should not be shackled by our own theology, ideas or arguments. "I don't care your or my theology. I only care the will of Jesus who only did things God did. Pray that God can open our eyes to let us follow this. May your kingdom come and you will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
"We announce that the family members who walk with us, we may not be inside the same watch no matter which countries you are. However, we are in the same time zone and we keep pace with God.We should learn to crucify our old selves and live toward the Lord, otherwise, we cannot be one."
