The Asia Theological Association (ATA) will host the ATA Theological Consultation 2024 on theology and arts in Chiang Mai, Thailand, next week.
Focusing on theology and arts, the ATA Theological Consultation 2024 will convene from November 12 to 15 with the theme “Sights, Sounds, and Stories,” said the host. The gathering will feature plenary sessions, paper presentations, workshops, performances, art displays, and live presentations. Speakers are composed of artists, scholars, pastors, and educators from distinct countries and regions in Asia, such as Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia, as well as the U.S.
Over the four-day retreat, eight plenary sessions will explore the intersection of theology, worship, and the arts. Topics will include layers of contextual art , the revival of ancient hymn texts and sacred choral music to congregational worship, and the rethinking theology of worship education for Asian pastor-musicians. Lectures will also delve into biblical storytelling, the use of art in research among poor communities, and the crossing of digital art and theology. Other sessions will focus on Arabic calligraphy and Arab Christianity and the future of theology and the arts.
Additionally, paper presentations and workshops will provide more insights into the multi-relationship among gospel outreach, theology, and distinct forms of Christian art.
The Asia Theological Association (ATA) is a network of theological institutions dedicated to evangelical faith and scholarship, aiming to support the Church in preparing believers for Jesus Christ’s mission.
