The Asia Academy of Practical Theology Hong Kong (AAPTHK) will hold its 2025 international conference online from June 13 to 14, 2025, in conjunction with the Divinity School of Chung Chi College at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
The Asian Practical Theology International Conference 2025, themed "Intersection of Trauma and Practical Theology in Asia," is now accepting paper submissions from prospective presenters, with a deadline of February 28, 2025, said the host.
In addition to addressing the conference theme, submissions are encouraged to explore various dimensions of trauma in Asian contexts, such as the legacies of war, environmental and collective trauma, issues of gender and sexuality, religious harm, and the role of spirituality and theology in promoting healing, resilience, and reconciliation.
Dr. Karen O’Donnell, academic dean of Westcott House at Cambridge, and Prof. Sonia Wong, assistant professor at the Divinity School of Chung Chi College, will deliver keynote speeches. This second Asian Practical Theology International Conference aims to promote critical and constructive dialogue between Asian practical theology and trauma studies, aiming to develop innovative frameworks and approaches tailored to the needs of Asian communities.
