A church in Shanghai announced that on December 31st, they will present the biblical scene "Conversion of Saul."
This play, an original large-scale immersive production of 2023 at Lord's Grace Church in Pudong New Area, is based on Acts 1–13. It narrates the transformation of a devout Jewish man named Saul, chosen by Christ, who then became a Christian missionary to the Gentiles.
It portrays two facets of Saul: one staunchly adhering to the law and fervently serving his inner god with pride, and the other breaking traditions and selflessly serving others with humbleness. These two distinct yet interconnected Sauls engage in dialogue across time and space on stage, alongside characters like Peter, Gamaliel, Stephen, Ananias, and Barnabas.
