Measures for Administration of Religious Groups Promulgated and Will Take Effect from February 1

On December 30, the official WeChat account of the State Bureau of Religious Affairs, 'Weiyan Zongjiao', issued a message, saying that on November 20th, the State Religious Affairs Bureau issued the Measures for the Administration of Religious Groups, Policy No. 13, which will be effective as of  February 1, 2020.

The publication and implementation of the Measures for the Administration of Religious Groups are of great significance for the in-depth implementation of the newly revised Regulations on Religious Affairs, the regulation of religious groups, the strengthening of the self-construction of religious groups, and the further development of the role of bridges and ties between religious groups.

The Measures for the Administration of Religious Groups, which consist of six chapters and 41 articles, apply to the organization of religious groups, the functions of religious groups, supervision and management, etc. The Measures specify that the religious affairs department of the people's government is the operational unit for a religious group and shall perform the functions of operational guidance and supervision and management of religious groups.

The Measures stipulate that representatives of religious groups, the Council (committee) and the Standing Committee (the Standing Committee) shall meet regularly in accordance with the provisions, decide on relevant matters and exercise their functions and powers. Religious groups shall carry out their work in accordance with the articles of association and perform the functions stipulated in thelaws, regulations, regulations and the articles of association of their own groups. Religious groups shall establish and improve the relevant systems of internal management and strengthen their own management.
