Due to the outbreaks of COVID-19 in three residential communities in Changchun City, the Jilin Province capital, the government mobilized the city's entire population for the nucleic acid test. Besides suspending all worship services, many churches of the town supplied help for the pandemic screening.
In response to the initiative of the Jilin CC&TSPM, the Songhui Road Church in Chaoyang District organized its believers to donate anti-pandemic materials worth more than 5,000 yuan to the community, including protective clothing, masks, goggles, and disinfectant.
Learning that the community could not find a suitable venue for the test, Elder Wu Jinrong of Sijiqing Church in Lvyuan District provided the suspended church to the community as a testing point. They sent the church staff to assist in the trial, according to Jilin CC&TSPM.
This church's staff guided the residents every day from 8:30 am to 11 pm to complete the testing. They also provided hot water, fruit, particularly a blanket for each individual to withstand the cold in winter during the six days, to medical workers and community staff.
Due to the lack of staff for the test, Pastor Tang Yongyao and Fu Qiang of the church in Guojia Town, Dehui City, actively signed up to be volunteers for the pandemic prevention work. They were in charge of maintaining the order and transporting materials at the venue. Finally, as the nucleic acid test was completed, the hidden risk of propagation was eliminated.
