Amity Foundation, an independent Chinese social development organization, was created in 1985, on the initiative of Chinese Christians to promote education, social service, health, community development and civil society building from China's coastal provinces in the east to the minority areas of the west.

Amity Foundation was created on the initiative of Chinese Christians headed by Bishop  K.H. Ting 30 years ago. It regards building bridge for the communication between churches and society as its mission. In its efforts, church clinics, hospitals and the Homes for the Aged have been established. More Christians practice Jesus's love in the areas of free clinics, the prevention and control of AIDS, the environmental protection and comprehensive development.

Caring vulnerable groups is always one of churches' missions. The development of Disability Ministry of the Amity Foundation lies in the key point---understanding the disability correctly, providing opportunities for the disabled to enter into churches, communities and society with respect and equality.

Once the staff of the group of Church and Society Service visited Xiao Mao's family. When they saw Xiao Mao who has disability the first time, his hands were tied and he hid after the garbage truck, unable to talk, drooling with baring black teech. They couldn't imagine what made him live in such a condition at such a young age. Heavy burderns from the falimy and impossibility for Xiao Mao's recovery made his parents tired and indifferent. They didn't want to mention having such a disabled child to others. After knowing his family's difficulties, the group arranged a co-worker to look after him regularly and invited Xiao Mao's mother to join in the Family Recreation Camp. Through the expert's guide and Christians' caring, his mother learned the knonwledge and skills of caring special children and came to realize the value and significance of Xiao Mao's existence.

Caring vulnerable groups is the responsibility of the Amity Foundation. In March, 2009, Jiangsu CCC&TSPM and the Amity Foundation created the specific fund for Christian society service, namely Jiangsu Christian Loving Fund. Since founded, the Fund has supported churches to carry out 138 social service programs and directly benifited over 80,000 peple.
