Pastors Encourage Christian Families to Have a “Second Child”

Recently, "allowing all couples to have two children" is a hot topic. A few days ago, the Fifth Plenary Session of the 18th CPC Central Committee concluded that China will implement the two-child policy, cancel the second child approval, and will discontiue issuing the One-child certificate and award fee.

P. Piao Guifeng, the Chairman of Panjin CCC&TSPM, agrees with the two-child policy. He believes that although the situation of China's aging population pushes for the second child policy, we should look at it in a positive way. He says, "In the Bible, the first commandment God gave humans is 'be fruitful and increase in number,' so the two-child policy obeys God's will." He adds, "Having a two-child family helps build a more reasonable family structure. An only child can hardly experience or feel the joy of growing with brothers or sisters, which can be bad for his or her mental health. The two-child policy can create a beneficial environment to growing children's physical and psychological health. " He says that families are also a pasture, an area that can develop Godly future generations which is a mission of Christianity. So we should encourage Christian families to have a second child.

A Chinese evangelist preaching the Gospel in Kazakhstan says, "The two-child policy seems like it is a rule of men but actually it is developing towards the kingdom of God. Psalm 127 says, 'Sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him.' After prayer, people will know God hopes to bless humans very much and hopes to develop His people through our descendants. However, nowadays, people are becoming more selfish, unwilling to sacrifice and bear burdens (children). So it won't change too much, even with the two-child policy, for some people who only live by their knowledge and  not faith.

The pressure of real life and humans' sin press heavily on humans like a mountain. Many people choose to have only one child or even no child, which disobeys God's commandment for men." She believes couples can regard child as "trouble" when they don't have a steady relationship and a lack of confidence. "So families should be built on the solid rock---Jesus Christ. Couples need firm confidence otherwise it will affect their children's physical and psychological health." She appeals Christians to "be fruitful and increase in number," which fulfills the purpose for which God created us humans.
