Travelling to China's Tibet Autonomous Region and still wish to be connected with the rest of the world? No problem, because it has been announced that all city buses and tour buses in travelling to Lhasa will now have free WiFi connectivity this year.
According to the chairman of Lhasa's public transport company Cao Zhiming, this addition is in part of the new traffic command center ordinance imposed in the city. Other new features in Lhasa also include the mobile app which passengers can used to determine where the closest bus stops are and when these buses come and go.
In recent years, Lhasa's tourism revenue has tripled to almost 15.5 billion yuan in 2015 thanks to the increasing tourist numbers in the region. In light of this improvement, the Lhasa authorities have pledged to develop its current transport infrastructure- from roads to tourist destinations - so that they can double their tourism revenue before 2020.
