270 guests participated in the Pfrang Gala May 7th, which once again took place in the Performing Arts Centre at Nanjing International School. Thanks to the generosity of the guests and sponsors the gift of education will be extended to more children in North Jiangsu and Anhui.
All the money from ticket sales, as well as a considerable amount from the sale of drinks, raffle tickets and auctions on the night, went directly to benefit Pfrang students. The photos of our sponsored students on the stage, each concealing a raffle ticket and a prize, sold out in record time. The total raised by the event was 330,000 RMB. For the first time, the Association invited a student who was supported by Pfrang for 11 years, before she went to university. She now is a Grade four university student in Huai’an, and ready to work soon after graduation.
The Pfrang association is a group of people who are united in the belief that education is one of the most basic and valuable assets in our society and therefore should be accessible to all young people. We have made it our aim to extend this gift of education to as many children as possible who would otherwise not be afforded the opportunity.
In April 2000 the Pfrang family lost their lives in a dreadful crime in their home in Nanjing. From sorrow for Sandra, Thorsten, Petra and Jürgen Pfrang, the desire arose to keep the memory of the family alive through making a positive contribution to the society the Pfrang members choose to live and work in. The Pfrang Foundation acknowledges the fact that social inequality and poor education prepare the grounds for crimes.
The Pfrang Association is a nonprofit charity organization with the intention of providing funds aimed at helping underprivileged children in Jiangsu Province to attain an education. In setting up the Association, Pfrang has developed a partnership with the Amity Foundation.
